Datagro says Brazil's top-producing centre-south sugarcane region could turn out 37.3 million metric tonnes of sugar from the upcoming 2010/11 crop season, according to Dow Jones.
Around 25 million tonnes of sugar should be exported from the 2010/11 crop, Plinio Nastari, Datagro's president, said in an email from Moscow late on Thursday night.
Datagro recently said that the region should crush 580-590 million tonnes of cane from the 2010/11 crop.
New mills in the region, large volume of cane remaining in the fields as well as attractive sweetener prices should lead to larger sugar production in 2010/11 compared with the 2009/10 crop that was also hampered by wet weather.
