The Philippines exported 326,379 metric tonnes of raw sugar and 5,704 tonnes of refined sugar to the world market excluding the U.S. as of July 15 this crop year amid ample stocks and a good harvest, according to Dow Jones.
In the crop year that ended Aug. 31, exports totaled 35,800 tonnes, Rosemarie Gumera, the Sugar Regulatory Administration's policy and planning manager, told Dow Jones Newswires.
The country's sugar production in 2011/12 is estimated around 2.24 million tonnes, down from an earlier estimate of 2.3 million tonnes. The last mill stopped crushing on July 8, she added.
