Brazil: June sugar exports fall by nearly 1 million tonnes

Brazil's sugar exports in June 2012 amounted to 1.691 million metric tonnes, raw value, down from 2.543 million exported in June 2011, according to Agra-Net.
This brought cumulative exports in 2012/13 (Apr/Jun) to 4.010 million tonnes, down from 5.478 million exported the same period in 2011/12. Total exports in 2011/12 (Apr/Mar) were 25.376 million tonnes, up from 28.045 million in 2010/11.
Major countries of destination for raw sugar in Apr/Jun 2012 were Russia with 643,500 tonnes against 1.692 million tonnes and Morocco with 320,700 tonnes compared with 238,500 tonnes. Major countries of destination for white sugar in Apr/Jun 2012 were Saudi Arabia with 108,400 tonnes against 102,800 tonnes and Ghana with 68,500 tonnes compared with 62,600 tonnes.
