Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries said it had acquired a sugar manufacturing plant near Kolhapur in Maharashtra for an undisclosed amount, according to India's Hindu Business Line newspaper.
The plant has a capacity of 2,500 tonnes cane crush a day.
The deal will be subject to approval by existing lenders under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002, and other approvals, said Dalmia Bharat Sugar in a statement on the BSE.
The company has three sugar mills with an aggregate cane crushing capacity of 22,500 tonne a day at its plants in Uttar Pradesh, and supplies sugar in the North Indian markets.
It also has a co-generation facility and distillery of 80 kg litres a day.
