INDIA: EID Perry to double co-generation at Nellikuppam mill

Murugappa Group's sugar business entity the INR15.37 billion (US$268.5 million) EID Parry India Ltd., has decided to nearly double the co-generation facility at its Nellikuppam plant to 45 MW, according to the Times of India.
The company has received a crucial go-ahead from the union environment ministry for its Terms of Reference to expand the capacity. EID Parry's current co-gen capacity at its integrated sugar complex in Nellikuppam in Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu is 23 MW, while its overall co-gen capacity is 146 MW. The co-generation business segment earned INR1.52 billion as revenues for the fiscal ended March 2012 and earned a profit before interest and taxation of INR675 million.
CMIE's projects monitor says that EID Parry is planning to expand its sugar crushing capabilities at Nellikuppam plant.
