PAKISTAN: USC lowers sugar price by PKR10

Under the special directives of Senior Federal Minister for Industries, Ch. Pervaiz Ellahi, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has further decreased the prices of sugar from PKR52 (US$0.57) per Kg to PKR42 per Kg giving relief of PKR10 per kg to its consumers, according to The Associated Press of Pakistan.
"Decision to this effect has been taken keeping in view of the downward trend in the prices of sugar in the open market and to provide relief to the consumers across the country", a statement of the USC issued on Thursday said.
The statement added that it is always the endeavor of the corporation to provide quality items with maximum relief in the prices of different inventories and commodities to the people specially the lower income group at its stores in the far flung areas of the country.
It further said that USC has already announced reduction in prices of 275 items in order to provide relief to the people.
People belonging to different sections of society have appreciated the government for the reduction of prices of sugar, and expressed the hope it would help further reduction of the commodity price in the open market.
