DJ MARKET TALK: ICE Sugar Down Slightly With Firm Dollar 0820 EST [Dow Jones] - ICE Mar sugar futures are modestly lower Friday morning, pressured by a stronger US dollar and selling in the commodity indexes. Lower crude oil and metals futures are bringing forth speculative fund selling in the commodity sector, putting light pressure on sugar. The market opened slightly higher and hit a session top of 23.00 cents before backing down. India proposed a law that would raise the state-set price of sugar cane to INR130/100 kilograms, from about INR108/100 kg, after protests this week by producers that prices have not kept pace with the rise in world prices. ICE Mar sugar is down 15 points at 22.59 cents a pound.
